When I started envisioning my kitchen makeover, I knew without a doubtfulness that I wanted to install subway kitchen tile. Did I know how to install backsplash tile? Nope. Not a inkling.

But I was totally willing to endeavour. I think the finished results bear witness y'all that I was successful!

Alright, now that you accept your supplies — allow's talk about how to install subway kitchen tile. Although this tutorial tin work for any tip of kitchen tile.

So the starting time footstep is to remove the existing backslash and repair the drywall. My old tile backsplash was actually removed by the crew that removed my old counter tops.  And luckily for me, they besides repaired the drywall damage also.

The but prep steps I took was covering my new quartz counters with a driblet cloth and installing a small board on the wall behind my stove. This was to back up the bottom row of tiles while they fix in the tile agglutinative.

Once that was done, I removed all the outlet covers. It was now time to mix the thinset and first installing the private tiles. Tip: don't mix all your thinset adhesive at once. I managed to get all the tile up in only two days working by myself. I allow the thinset agglutinative dry for a twenty-four hour period and so it was fourth dimension to become my grout on!

For my grout color, I decided to get with a light gray color called Mist. I'one thousand then glad I picked a tinted grout over merely obviously white. Because I mixed too much grout at once, it was drying faster than I could apply it and wipe off the backlog. And then I was having to work like crazy fast! I even asked Chris to aid me on his luncheon interruption because I was freaking out.

So…again. Brand minor batches, work in small sections and accept your time. If I could accept one do-over, that would be mine.

You can see an case of how nice the grout was looking here earlier I realized my mistake.

It took me like 4-5 wipes of the wet sponge to finally go near of the grout removed from the front end surface of the tiles. Just to brand sure I got all the grout, I went back over all the tile with a damp material too.

Overall, my grout turned out fine. I did go back and scrape off some grout to clean upwards the grout lines as much as I could.

The perfectionist in me can still meet some spots, merely I just have to it go because — I really practice love the finished look of my new backsplash. The kitchen subway tile looks great and compliments my new gray kitchen cabinets beautifully!
